Correcting badly installed flat roofs & terraces under 10 years old
All Roofing is increasingly being asked to remedy defective, recently-installed flat roofs, balconies and terraces. The majority of them fail around details like balustrade channel connections, external perimeters and door/window openings.
Common mistakes include:
- Expecting perimeter aluminium fascia’s to be waterproof
- Expecting window/door frames being fully waterproof
- Expecting balustrade channels to be waterproof relient on sealant
It’s our job to know and avoid all these errors before even starting the construction process. Our responsibilities include giving you 100% honest insight into the right roofing materials and systems for your building. Every project we come across needs a specific solution to make it work, so we take the time to explore what needs to be done.
Many of the projects that fail are usually due to details not provided by architects as standard. Flat roofing, if not installed correctly at abutments, perimeters and for example glass balustrades experience visible issues within 2-3 years. However, some go unnoticed for long periods causing ectensive damage. This balcony above is only 3 years old.
This is where our experience comes in, since we have years of practice in correcting badly installed flat roofs, balconies and terraces constructed by main contractors and developers.
Some of these properties have 10 year insurance policies through the NHBC or private insurance, without our expert help, advice and peristance some would be paying for this themselves, some unfortunately are not covered.
All Roofing is a recognised and reliable source of flat roofing repair. Our expert roofing team have specialist experience in fixing failed flat roofing and waterproofing that has been installed by larger, more widely known construction companies.
How many times do we all see scaffold up two years after a building is finished and lived in, we see this on too many blocks of flats and high end homes.
We pride ourselves on working with the project managers from the beginning of the construction process when working on new projects so these issues don’t arise, the importance of having experienced project mangers for each type of build is essential.
If you are building your own home we can help you achieve the end result you expect, if this is too late because you relied on your inexperienced project manager, or your home was built by a large main contractor that doesn’t pride itelf on it’s standard of work then we can help put it right.
All Roofing believes when you finish a roofing project it should be the last time you should have think about the roof, this sadly is not the experience for many home owners today, but you can rely on us if you need help and advice so don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know what your problems are.
Stay safe,
The All Roofing team
My friend’s flat roof has been looking pretty bad, and he’s not sure what to do about it. It makes sense that he might want to get his flat roof redone! That seems like a great way to ensure that it’s waterproof and safe.
I never knew that the first sign of damage or improper installation of flat roofs will begin showing up 2-3 years post-installation. The other day I noticed that my roof was leaking. Maybe I can look at hiring a professional roofer to have my roof inspected and properly installed.
